A Fixed Fight!

Encourage yourself in the Lord and know that the fight is fixed. One must inspire or cheer themselves on in this combat for salvation.

Christians are to understand that they are soldiers and as such, should always be battle ready. This time, however, the fight is not a carnal one. It is not against flesh and blood neither is it against the physical man. It is a spiritual fight, a fight against the impediments between God and man. The mortal man wants to act as he wills and deems fit. Keeping the balance between spirituality and physicality is, therefore, the task.
For the mortal man, doing right can be quite uneasy. There are worldly distractions that try to avert a believer’s mind from God and there are so many of them. Remembering that this battle cannot be won alone is the first step to surmounting obstacles. God is not just a master but a friend. The ability to run to him when the going is tough keeps one on track. Derailing is easy especially in the present day world where lots of confusions abound and being good is sometimes taken for weakness. The reason it is quite easy to want to compromise to not be seen as a weakling.

God never promised that the path to him would be an easy one. Jesus in spite of being the second person in the Trinity encountered a lot of stumbling blocks on his journey; the Apostles inclusive. What kept them was revelation, insight, and determination to motivate as well as encouragement. The struggle will not be easy, but with God anything is possible.

The battle is not for the swift. The flesh wants to be satisfied; never wants to leave its comfort zone. It always wants to do the things that are convenient. But with the mindset that the most convenient things are not always the right things, it would be easier to walk with God. It is convenient to preach “flee fornication, flee adultery, flee idolatry, flee backbiting, flee this and that” But the truth remains that it is not always justifiable. They are not easy to flee because they benefit the flesh. The devil our adversary, is not ready to back out and leave us alone to do the will of the Father.

Staying good for God’s sake becomes a lifestyle when the insight of a glorious future is seen. Boxers train with an expectation in mind and it is nothing short of being a champion. When good is done with God in mind, it is easier to keep doing good and being good irrespective of people’s perception towards you.

As Christians, we must never forget who we are. It is easy for a boxer to keep up with the rigors of training when he never forgets who he is and where he is headed. Also, total dependence on God cannot be done without. A Christian must acknowledge that he or she is too weak to fight the battle alone. Romans 8:8 KJV “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” This verse of the scripture says it all. Flesh, as used in the biblical text, refers to the carnal man.

No boxer becomes so named without training, both personally and with the aid of a coach and trainings are yet, not sufficient. Boxers also have to build a healthy eating habit that is suited for the profession and their diet regimen is important. The right diet helps their courage, boosts their strength and helps them effectively put into practice the teachings and trainings they’ve had to go through and learn. This can be a sense of cheering you on for support within yourself.

The boxer’s diet can be likened to the fruit of the spirit. It is not enough for anyone to accept Jesus Christ as his or her personal Lord and Savior. What shows the difference is the fruits of the spirit that the believer exudes.

The book of Galatians 5:22-23 enumerated these fruits to be love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.

The ingested fruits of the spirit by virtue of salvation are expected to be produced in the manifest act of a believer. The question that is necessary at this junction is if a person can manifest something that he or she does not carry. Just like the boxers diet helps them and augments training recovery, so does the fruit of the spirit. God never promised us a journey without trials and tribulations for even the only begotten son of God had to go through this phase. The reason patience is a fruit of the spirit. The ability to be able to trust God and wait on him amidst conflict.

Boxers don’t just live on a diet, they must also make sure to follow the required consistency and timing prescribed for their meals. Same way Christians can never overdose on the fruits of the spirit. Boxers are heavy eaters who require food before even morning workouts. In the same vein are Christians encouraged to be heavy consumers of the word of God. The word of God must be ingested into the believer’s system daily and with consistency.

Boxers are fit because of the modules of training and workout sessions they have to go through. The same way battles and tribulations keep Christians in shape. The moment you stop fighting, you are deemed to have given up. What is the reward of a fighter who quits before the end of a fight? Just like a boxer’s meal needs to contain all the classes of food and most importantly, in the right proportion, so does the life of a soldier of Christ. The fight, therefore, continues until Christ comes, which shall give you hope.

Above all, it is imperative to always remember that to remain fit as a fighter in the army of the Lord, you must put on the whole armor of God. What better way to do this than to have faith in the one who has called you to his marvelous light, believing that he is too just to leave you halfway through the journey.

ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS: In all these things dear brethren, let 1 1Thessalonians 5:24 abide with you always. “For faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it.” Remember always, that you are never alone. Shalom!

How To Properly Care For Your Feet

The feet are two of the most used parts of your body, needed for all the walking and daily running around. It is responsible for absorbing the impact of your full body weight and keeping you balanced and upright while you move. Despite the obvious importance of the feet, however, it is often neglected during hygiene and not properly taken care of.

Taking care of your feet properly is very important as there are a number of problems which can afflict them when they are not well cared for. These problems include; foot odor, fungal disinfection, ingrown toenails, corns e.t.c. Here are five ways to properly care for your feet.

•Wash Your Feet Every day: Washing the feet is very important, as the feet tend to get sweatier and dirtier than other parts of the body. This is because the feet are trapped inside your shoes for the most part of the day. The moisture is fertile ground for bacteria and fungi which leads to foot odor, and consequently fungal infections. The feet should be washed daily with warm water and soap. Attention should be paid to the space between the toes and the toenails as they are breeding ground for germs. The feet should be properly dried after washing, to effectively wipe out bacteria-harboring moisture.

•Moisturize Your Feet: Although moisture breeds bacteria, it is needed to keep your feet soft and healthy. Dry skin on the feet would result in cracked or scaly skin, making moisturizing very important. The drill is to apply the right amount of lotion or petroleum jelly on the feet, and avoiding the area between your toes. A good way to achieve this is applying lotion at night and putting on some sock. You will find your feet very soft in the morning.

•Wear Comfortable Footwear: In caring for the feet, you need to always wear comfortable shoes. Tight shoes cause corns, hammer toe, ingrown toenails, and pains, while oversized shoes cause sore heel and blisters. Get shoes that fit comfortably, and are of good materials. Natural materials like cotton and leather are the best as they release moisture and keep your feet cooler. The weather condition should also be considered when you choose your footwear. Sandals are good for summer, while waterproof boots and socks are suitable for winter.

•Give Yourself a Pedicure Regularly: A pedicure does not necessarily require a trip to the salon. You can do it all by yourself right in the comfort of your home. You can start by massaging your feet, ensuring to knead the soles and stretch the toes. This should be followed up by soaking your feet in lukewarm water, for 5 to 10 minutes. Soaking the feet helps to soften hard skin and prepare the toenails for trimming. The toenails should be trimmed short and straight across. Cutting it short helps prevent germs, and cutting it across prevent ingrown toenails.

•Address Your Foot Problems Early: In the event of developing any foot problem, it is necessary to address the problem quickly. Some of these problems can be treated at home. Foot fungus can be treated by applying an antifungal cream. Ingrown toenails can also be addressed by cutting out the growth. In the case of foot pains and infections, it is important to see a podiatrist.

These processes might prove stressful to keep up with, but it is necessary to encourage yourself to do it. This is because having healthy feet is a major key to being ahead in your day to day activities.

The Benefits Of Drinking Water

Benefits of Drinking Water That You Should Know

I tried drinking water every time I craved soda for a week. That week I had about eight ounces of water a day and the results were astounding. My skin got clearer and I felt better generally. The slogan “Stay Hydrated!” seems like a cliche or a lie. You’ve probably asked someone how they got their skin to be so clear and they told you it was because of their water intake. They did not lie. It is truly just as easy as that. Here are some reasons why you should drink more water other than the fact that it’s good for you.

1. Clear Skin – I cannot stress this enough, water works wonders for your skin. It leaves you glowing and happier.

2. Metabolism – For the people who don’t burn fat as fast as they’d like to, water helps a lot. It’s actually a detoxifier. There has been an influx of “green or natural products” over the past years, I’m not saying these products don’t work but your body is made up of 60 percent water. It seems logical to give it more of what it’s made of.

3. It cures/prevents headaches – Your brain is made up of about 73 percent water. It sounds insane, I know but it’s true. Drinking water keeps your brain refreshed and if your brain is less stressed and refreshed, the chances of you getting a headache if you’re a person who drinks water frequently are really low.

4. It tastes good and it saves money – Water is cheaper than soda and it also tastes really good. If you feel like it’s bland you can always add a squeeze of lime or some berry extract but not too much, the goal is to consume pure water.

5. It boosts your immune system – The number of things water can do should make it more expensive or at least harder to get but it is so easily accessible. Studies have shown that drinking water helps to aid your immune system and make it stronger for terminal illnesses.

6. Well-Lubricated Joints – If you’re well hydrated you’re less likely to get sprains or any joint related injuries. So that means no more ankle rubs after sprinting up the stairs.

7. Cramps – This is more gender specific. It’s well known that you shouldn’t take anything sweet before your period, so if you aren’t taking soda or juice you could always take water to ensure your menstrual period goes along smoothly and less painful.

8. Hangovers – If you’ve had a rough night partying with people or alone it always helps to consume a lot of water so that the alcohol-induced hangovers will not be as brutal as they usually are. Sometimes you suffer no hangover symptoms at all. This has been tested and proven correct.

Water does all this and so much more. It helps your physical well-being. That’s why people who exercise or go on runs are always advised to hold a bottle of water while on the go. If you find it difficult to drink water often you can always download an app that measures your water intake for you or gets a water bottle with measurements on the side so you can take note of your water intake.

The amount of water that one should drink per day is debatable, your sole purpose is to drink as much as possible in any given day. Note that all the benefits will pay off almost immediately, as well as in the future. Keeping toxins and sickness to a minimum. The list of benefits are endless.

ENCOURAGE YOURSELF: Remember water is good for you. Stay Hydrated! Great for the body and soul, you must take care of your body as well as your soul. Your body is a temple!

One, Two, Satan’s Coming For You!

In the movie “Nightmare On Elm Street”, Freddy Krueger is the enemy in this horror movie. He seeks to destroy individuals through their dreams. In real life the enemy is coming for you! He is in your dreams, thoughts, deeds and all actions. Be careful what you say or do. The song in the movie goes as such: One, Two, Freddy’s coming for you three, four, better lock your door five, six, grab your crucifix, seven, eight better stay up late, nine, ten never sleep again.

Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy the very ones who chooses to live against Gods will. God has come so that you might have life—indeed, so that they could live life to the fullest.
Lock the door to your heart against the enemy, against negativity, lying, bullying, murder, evil thoughts, nah sayers, against depression, drugs, alcohol, suicide, molestation, theft, pornography, abusive relationships, against failure and evil doers.

1. A crucifix is an image of Jesus on the cross, as distinct from a bare cross.

2. The representation of Jesus himself on the cross is referred to, in English as the corpus (Latin for “body”).

3. I find that the best time to communicate with God is in the middle of the night, when there is a stillness in the house.

4. Lastly where you or I will spend eternity, according to what the bible says: For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.

5. The cross with Jesus crucified is known as a “crucifix”. The cross by itself is just a “cross”, though different branches of Christianity used different variations on the cross (Latin Cross, Greek cross, Georgian cross, etc.).

6. The crucifix has been a symbol of Christianity since around the fifth century. At that time, the Catholic Church was largely unified, and so the crucifix was the symbol of all Christianity.  Today, it still is for the Catholic church, as well as the Orthodox Church, which was never entirely unified with the western Catholic Church. The Anglican Church, although a Protestant Church adopted most of the Catholic symbolism.

Note that in the movie Nightmare On Elm Street the enemy stalked and tormented his prey day and night. Until he could catch them at their weakest, most vulnerable point. The enemy is always certain to makes sure your guard is down, that you are tired and frustrated, he will catch you when you least expect it, especially if you haven’t prayed consistently or don’t read your bible as you should. According to the scriptures it says in Ephesians 6:11; Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

The adversary is on his job, so, it is up to us as Christians who are lazy, uncontrollable and unconcerned as we tunnel through our daily routines, to be vigilant and ready at all times. We lack discipline when it comes to reading our bibles, praying or giving God his due worship. But in trouble, we are quick to fall on our knees and cry like babies wanting a bottle. (No harm entended).

We must be about our Father’s business. As well as arming ourselves likewise. If we could remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. We would have an edge on the adversary.

Remember to keep in the forethought of your mind to be strong in the Lord,

One, Two, Satan’s Coming For You! Or will you stand? Will you stand against the enemy in these last and evil days?
Will you fold under pressure?
Will the love of money get the best of you?
Will you turn from your wicked ways and live a life according to the bible?
Will you be able to hear the Lord say “Well done thy good and faithful servant?

God is waiting for you to fall into his precious and loving arms, to embrace you as never before.

ENCOURAGE YOURSELF: Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Here is an encouraging thought, if you “Think spiritual first, and naturally second” your frustration level will be minimal. You will find yourself being less angry, because you will see the tactics of the enemy.
